Hi all on this nice snowy winter day,
Is it true that too much oxygen can damage your lungs. I just read that somewhere but they did not specify the excess amount.
Iam now on 6l for walking around and light activity ( sweep floor, do dishes etc) I need 3.5 L for sleeping and on the computer, that keeps my O2 lever at 96.
Sometimes I forget to switch my oxygen from 6l and end up on the computer for maybe a half hour or so before it dawns on me that the flow is too high. I generally get a dull headache when it is too much and I imediately know to go to the lower setting. I do this fairly often , can this cause more damage to my lungs? |

Well glad to hear i'm not the only one that forgets to turn it down. My Dr. said that you can't get too much o2 I forgot once to turn it down and after sitting in his office 20 min I was at 100 o2, i'm on 5L when being active 3L when resting. Do you have an o2 sat mon? it was the first thing I bought after I got on o2. My headaches happen when my sinuses dry out and then I get nose bleeds i'm so ready for winter to end. |

If you don't have a humidifier bottle on the concentrator ask to get one and use some type of gel such as Ayr in your nose. Don't use petrolemium Jelly as that has oil in it and is supposedly dangerous to be used.
I didn't do either of those things (which were suggested) and finally ended up with a nose bleed which wouldn't stop and ended up in the ER and had to have it packed. Now my concentrator has a humidifier bottle and I keep a supply of the gel on hand. |

Hi,
I have at times used a humidifier on my concentrator. However, I have a 50 foot line and humidifier does not work too good with it. One time I went to hitch back up to concentrator and water was dripping out of it. Another time lots of bubbles in the line. I rechecked and it appeared that everything was connected properly.
I do ask for humidifier when I'm in the hospital and that works ok because it is a shorter line. I have not tried the gel, perhaps I will as I get nose bleeds often. |

I use both the humidifier and gel i'm on 50 foot tubing in the house. Just have bad sinus problems. I have no issues in the summer just in the winter. Anyway here's a tip to all new o2 users any water based lubercation will work in your nose just don't use the warming kind |

Jeaner,
Have you tried the water traps to go on the concentrater to catch the water in the lines? Mine gets water in the lines when the weather is cold and you have tile floors. I never had the problem until I moved to this house.
Someone told me this was the problem. Your Home Health supplier will have the traps.
