U.S. researchers have created a primitive artificial lung that rats used to breathe for several hours and said on Tuesday it may be a step in the development of new organs grown from a patient's own cells.
This is very promising! It may come about in my lifetime but it's wonderful to think that this is on the horizon.
I've mentioned that my 6 year old granddaughter had a heart transplant when she was only 8 months old. It's interesting to note that her doctors left the back of her heart intact, with the thought that someday they may be able to grow a new heart from these cells.
