I am a new member still without a definitive diagnosis. I test well...most test say I am fine! However I have been sick since
last March 2009. I have had minor breathing issues for about four years but nothing like this year. I now have a doctor who is listening to me and looking at whats going on rather than say "Oh your tests are fine."
The last round of testing said my immune system isn't working right and after a second look at my CT scan saw nodules in the lungs (the first doctor had already decided it was in my head and dismissed the findings) I am having a follow-up CT scan next week and also a sleep study. Then he will do a bronchial lavage.
I feel so foolish that I can't better and still can't breath. I am exhausted all the time.
I am a non-smoker and have always been in good health until now
I did see a psychiatrist who has verified that this is not in my head and also said that the medical community is stressing me out. She has been incredibly helpful!

Hi, and welcome. I really hope the new doc will get down to the bottom of things for you. Let us know how it goes. At least you've got the "it's all in your head" thing out of the way. There are other less ominous things that can cause shortness of breath and hopefully all will be looked at. They may or may not be related to the nodules.

Don't feel foolish, whats going on is certainly not your fault. When I fist went to my pulmo to see about my shortness of breath last may, he at first asked me if it seemed to happen in times that I felt stressed, and danced his way around asking if this was in my head. After seeing my PFT results, he couldn't apologize enough for even suggesting such a thing. I know this much...we know our bodies better than anyone else, including a doctor, so always trust your instincts.
God Bless
