we all owe such a debt to Bill for saving Huff-n-puff. I am so sorry that some of the newbies did not get a chance to know such a remarkable person. I miss him very much. He was the Father of our site moderator Greg Allen.

Pat,
Sorry didn't even see a post of his death. Will definitly read some old posts to get to know who he was and what disease he had and how long he endured. It is always sad to read these postings but I am glad that someone posts them so we can know. Thankyou for posting. |

Bill had IPF and had a single lung transplant he has been dead a number of years now but he was there for me when I needed him and I was there for him. His kidneys failed and he had to go on dialysis. He was a wonderful Christian man and his son Greg the moderator for this site keeps it going in Bill's memory. He went by Bill on this site. |

I've read some of his scriptural writings and just knowing his son Greg, who is also a wonderful man, he must have been very dear.

Bill was a very special person who helped MANY people, but I will treasure his influence on my life. I would have responded much sooner but it's been a crazy month. Thank you, Pat. For most of you my advice is to read his journal. |

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my dad. He was indeed an amazing person and I miss him very much.
Besides Huff-n-Puff, here are two websites that he worked on during his illness:
http://www.radmedicine.com/lung/
http://www.radmedicine.com/poems/
He was also a fan of the Jewish novelist Chaim Potok and put together what is still the definitive web resource for Potok's work:
http://potok.lasierra.edu/
Thanks again for remembering my dad. He would be very happy to see Huff-n-Puff continue to thrive.

Dear Greg,
Setting up and continuing this site has been such a wonderful gift to all of that are suffering from the pain that the disease brings.
Thanks for the additional websites. I thought I had read everything by your Dad but I had not. What a treat and a source of inspiration.
It must have been a real blessing to have him for a father. He certainly used his unfortunate condition to make the world a better place.
Regards.

I just got back on HnP after a couple of weeks and saw this post. I remember Bill so fondly, and especially for the time and effort he took to send a personal, lengthy email to David regarding the transplant procedure. I remember that in that email he said, "I like the way you use the term "we" " (he was talking about the way I had described the journey we had been on through diagnosis, etc.). What a wonderful, giving man he was!...And this site lives on to help others. May God bless his family...

I am so thankful for this man who started Huff-n-Puff because when I was first diagnosed with Pulm/ Fibrosis I was in a daze, scared, felt alone, but searching for everything I could find on this disease and could find little. The Pulm.doctor I had at that time spoke in a foreign language with words like Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, etc, etc. It was a whole new language I had to learn, words that I didn't know the meaning of. The nurse in the hospital gave me a print out from WebMD on the subject which was good and I still have the article. I still don't know how I happened to find about Huff-n-Puff, but think someone on the Coalition of Pulm. Fibrosis suggested I go there. I haven't been back to another one since.
